Seven new SC judges must swine today

In a break with the tradition, the president of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (CJ), Yahya Afridi, plans to administer the oath today to the six judges of the newly appointed Court Court, as well as an interim judge in a ceremony that will take to out of the Supreme Court building.

These judges were nominated Monday at a meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) that was boycotted by two SC judges, as well as two members of the opposition party.

The permanent judges to make an oath are Hashim Khan Kakar, the president of the Superior Court of Baluchistan (BHC); Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, the president of the Superior Court of Sindh (SHC); Ishtiaq Ibrahim, the president of the Superior Court of Peshawar (PHC) and Aamer Farooq, the president of the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC).

Judge SHC Salahuddin Panhwar and PHC Judge Shakeel Ahmed will also take an oath as judges of the Supreme Court.

The JCP on February 10 also approved the appointment of the judge of IHC Miangul Hassan Aurengzeb as an interim judge, which will also be an oath today.

In the facilities of the Supreme Court, presidents have been organized for the president of the president of Pakistan and the seven judges. Around 500 to 600 chairs are being installed in the patio of the Supreme Court.

The decision to celebrate the oath ceremony in an open space was taken taking into account the amount of guests. The judges, their families and their colleagues will also attend the ceremony.

Separately, President Asif Ali Zardari will administer the oath to the Interim President of IHC justice, Sarfaraz Dogar.
