The carbonized remains of Mustafa Amir, a young man who disappeared in Karachi’s defense area on January 6, were discovered near Hub Chowki, authorities reported Friday. Mustafa’s body was found in the trunk of his own car, which had also set fire.
Dig Cia, Muqaddas Haider, together with officials of the Citizens Police Link Committee (CPLC), addressed the media and confirmed significant progress in the investigation.
“Mustafa Amir, 23, was kidnapped on January 6, after which her mother received a rescue call,” said Dig Haider, added that the case was subsequently transferred to the CIA. He accredited the CPLC for his substantial cooperation in the case.
Haider revealed that on February 8, Mustafa Armaghan’s friend was arrested after a shooting in which two police officers, including DSP, were injured. During the arrest, the researchers found Mustafa’s telephone and blood stains on a carpet in Armaghan’s house.
“Sensitive agencies have also been helping in the investigation,” Haider added.
According to the investigation, Armaghan and another suspect, Shiraz, who were close friends since childhood, supposedly killed Mustafa after a domestic dispute. Then they eliminated the body by placing it in Mustafa’s car, burning it and abandoning it near Hub Chowki.
The authorities continue to investigate whether someone else was involved in the crime.
DNA tests are being carried out to confirm the identity of the remains, with initial reports that indicate that the body found was in fact Mustafa.
Dig Haider clarified that there was no confirmed link with international drug cartels, despite the rumors that suggest the participation of Mustafa in illegal activities. “The Mustafa connection claim with a drug sign still does not verify,” said Haider.
Police officers had initially confirmed that Mustafa had disappeared from his residence in defense, and after his father, Amir Shuja, contacted Mustafa Armaghan on January 10, suspected grew.
The same day, a rescue call from an international number was received, which caused the family to deliver evidence to the police. However, there were no immediate actions of the authorities.
Following the discovery, Mustafa’s father had also appealed to the governor of Sindh Kamran Tessori for his help to locate his son. After the intervention, the police tracked the car carbonized by Mustafa in Hub Chowki.
The investigation continues as the authorities seek to identify all those involved in this tragic incident.
