Steve Kerr has long been a defender of a shorter NBA schedule, and this week was a reminder why.
Kerr’s Golden State Warriors played games on consecutive nights, Wednesday in Dallas and Thursday in Houston.
After losing Wednesday against the Mavericks, Kerr put the NBA in the explosion.

“It’s a consecutive hard. That is what makes this loss even more frustrating,” Kerr said Wednesday. “We have to get to Houston at 3, whatever, because the NBA, in its infinite wisdom, makes us play a game of 8:45. They clearly do not care about the player’s rest or health; they are only qualifications and All that things.
It is not uncommon for star players to feel outside an end of a consecutive part. Stephen Curry sat one of the games, but the rest of the stars of this weekend had something to do with that.

However, in January 2023, Kerr rested to Curry as part of the “long game” and felt for the fans who lost.
“I feel terrible for fans who bought a ticket hoping to see someone play, and they can’t see that person play. It’s a brutal part of the business,” Kerr said at that time. “That is why I will continue to advocate for 72 seasons games. And I know that this means less income, but, at some point, I think there is only an awareness of all those involved in the League.
“I think about all the time. People are spending good money to see a team, and then someone does not play? That is not something I ignore. I know it is painful. We have had many discussions. With fans throughout of the years that have been in that situation. “
