Unimicron, a global manufacturing giant specialized in printed circuit plates (PCB), has confirmed to suffer a ransomware attack, presenting a new report before the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), revealing that it was beaten on January 30.
As soon as the attack was seen, the company says that it brought to a cybernetic forensic team of third parties to analyze and defend the IT infrastructure, adding the possible anticipated loss or impact was “limited.” Nor does he expect to receive any compensation from his insurance company for the attack.

Finance the State
The company did not say who attacked him, if he lost confidential data, or what are the rescue demands, but Bleepingcomputer He informs that a ransomware operation called ‘Sarcoma’ was behind the incident.
Apparently, the group published samples of stolen files and threatened to release everything unless the payment is made. They claim to have stolen 377 GB of SQL files and documents.
Sarcoma is a relatively unknown name whose operations only started a few months ago. However, the publication states that it has already reached 36 victims, which makes it very active and quite destructive. One of his first victims seems to have been EarthWorks Group, a large construction and environmental services company.
UNIMICRON is one of the rigid PCB leaders, flexible printed circuits, high density interconnection plates (HDI), rigid flexion plates and integrated circuit carriers (IC). These products are an integral part of various applications, such as LCD monitors, PC, notebooks, network cards, fax machines, scanners, mobile phones and personal digital assistants.
The company operates manufacturing facilities and service centers in Taiwan, China, Germany and Japan. In terms of financial performance, Unimicron reported an income of approximately $ 3.29 billion in 2023.
