- AMD has confirmed its RDNA 4 complete launch event for February 28
- These initial RX 9070 models will go on sale in early March.
- That establishes RX 9070 for a confrontation against NVIDIA RTX 5070 that arrives on the shelves on March 5
AMD has revealed that its RDNA 4 graphics cards will get a complete launch event, unlike the fleeting ads made in CES 2025, in two weeks, before the March launch for these GPUs.
David Mcafee, vice president of AMD and GM of Ryzen and Radeon, takes care of the date and time to mark in our calendars is February 28 at 8 am EST (5 am PST, 1pm time of the United Kingdom) through a Publication about X.
The wait is almost over. Unique us on February 28 at 8 am for the revelation of the next generation series @AMD Radeon RX 9000. Prepare to do it when you reach the shelves in early March. RSVP subscribing to the AMD YouTube channel: https://t.co/4rkvxeodyFebruary 13, 2025
The AMD executive also said that the long -awaited RX 9070 models will arrive at the shelves in early March.
When RX 9070 XT and Plain RX 9070 were announced in CES 2025 last month, the wide expectation was that they would arrive earlier in the first quarter, instead of later.
That hope had poured cold water when AMD confirmed that these RDNA 4 graphics cards were delayed to the march, and McAfee led X to explain why. That is, to ensure that AMD adrenaline graphics controllers are completely tune in and ready to guarantee the best performance for RX 9070 GPUs outside the door, and also to obtain more support for FSR 4 in PC games (achieving the same end, indeed).
Analysis: A final concern …
Crucially, Mcafee also mentioned that another reason to postpone the launch of the RDNA 4 GPUs to the march was to build stock levels of graphics cards in retail trade.
Now, I am reading the launch date established to “early March” to mean the first week of next month, and that makes sense if we direct our attention to Nvidia’s plans. We have just learned from the main rival of the AMD GPU that its GeForce RTX 5070 will be on sale on March 5.
Therefore, it seems very similar to the fact that there will be a face -to -face clash of the middle range GPUs, more or less, just after March arrives, with AMD with the aim of bringing Nvidia directly here.
The red team may well be driven by the general tremor of stock levels for NVIDIA BLACKWELL so far, and (credible enough) rumors that RTX 5070 may not be so different from RTX 5080 and 5090 to this regard. After all, Nvidia announced that the RTX 5070 models would be launched in February, the Ti and Vanilla Spin version, and then the graphics card that is not you to march has backed away. That broken promise does not feel like a good sign, in terms of actions, for me.
On the contrary, AMD seems safer of relatively robust supply levels for RDNA 4, and in fact we know that these GPUs have been in retailers since January. That is thanks to the leaked photos of these stores, and also, the confirmation of Team Red that the joint partners had “begun to build an initial inventory in the retailers” in January.
In addition to that, there are some convincingly positive rumors about the possible levels of performance that we will see from the RX 9070 models to start, and the sources in other places indicate that AMD is really taking their time on this next -generation GPU launch to do so good.
The only concern that remains is the price, and if AMD’s apparent confidence with this medium range confrontation against NVIDIA RTX 5070 models could mean that the company drives a little more with the sale prices of the RX 9070 variants.
If you scan the answers to McAfee publication in X, that is the consistent thread of the concern of respondents who have less positive thoughts about the RDNA 4. In short, the fear is that the launch of Blackwell of Nvidia could mean that AMD decides to charge more. RX 9070 GPU: Although after having configured its position as medium -ranking graphics cards, there is surely a limit to what extent the network equipment could promote here, if this were a temptation.
Time will say it, and I hope that AMD does not lead to any excess here; After all, this is a great opportunity to fight Nvidia. At the same time, I am not anticipating a surprise with lower prices, since given the way the market is at this time, that does not make much sense. Even so, whatever happens, we need to see exactly how the RX 9070 performance emerges before we can really obtain a prices perspective, anyway.
