- The PS5 has just had its best results in the financial quarter
- The console sent some amazing 9.5 million units in the third quarter of the fiscal year24
- Monthly active users also saw a healthy increase in the same period
It seems that people are still very anxious to add a PlayStation 5 console to their game settings, since the system has just enjoyed their best registered financial quarter.
This is for financial results recently published by Sony for its Q3 Fy24. Page 10 of the report shows that the company changed 9.5 million PS5 consoles during this financial quarter. While that is an astronomical leap of Q1 (2.8 million) and Q2 (3.8 million), these Q3 numbers were probably reinforced by the launch of the PS5 Pro.
This brings the total number of PS5 consoles sent to around 15.7 million for this financial year so far. The last financial year, Sony sent a total of 20.8 million PS5 units, and with a remaining quarter for this financial year, the console could well be on their way to overcome that too.
This brings sales for the life of the PS5 so far to 75 million, which, according to Gamespot, is barely shy with the 76.5 million PlayStation 4 consoles sent during the same amount of time. In that case, it should be emphasized that the PS4 Pro launched before that generation than the PS5 pro in this. The family units of PS4 were also cheaper than their counterparts of PS5.
Another prominent point of the financial report shows that there has also been a decent increase in monthly active users. Q3 Fy24 reached its maximum point in 129 million monthly active users compared to the 123 million of the previous year of the same quarter. It is likely that you can see the success of live services titles as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and 2 for obtaining a few million additional people to log in each month.
Sony has two exclusive high profile games that will be launched this year in Yōtei ghost and Death Stranding 2: On the beach, Although both both lack a launch date beyond a vague window ‘2025’ and it is not clear whether or not they will land in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2014.
