- It is rumored that the AMD RX 9070 GPUs will arrive on the shelves on March 6
- Another rumor suggests that 9070 XT may need a 900 w power supply
- However, that is for an overclocked high -end version of 9070 XT, and there are numerous warnings to consider here
Radeon RX 9070 graphics cards will get a complete launch event on February 28, which has been confirmed by Team Red, and now Chatter in the rumor indicates that these GPUs will be available to buy on March 6.
That alleged date for sale is courtesy of Videcardz sources, a statement also backed by the Chinese technological site Benchlife. Although these two rumors align, we must still take this with great caution.
That said, AMD has told us that its RX 9070 models will go on sale in early March, which I consider what the first week means, and on March 6 it fits that photo. Even so, we will need official confirmation, and presumably that will come in the press event mentioned for the RDNA 4 GPUs at the end of February.
At the same time, more speculation is floating with respect to the energy consumption of RX 9070 XT, which suggests that a third -party variant has a great question in terms of the power supply of its PC.
Tom’s hardware noticed an X of Tomasz GawroĊski that shows a supposedly leaked image of the Powerorol .
There will be 9070 XT cards available at the launch that will require a minimum minimal feed power, as well as many with 8 PIN power connectors for update without worries.February 14, 2025
This has raised many eyebrows, since there are 100W more than the current recommendation for the RX 7900 XTX flagship, although even the poster admitted that they were not sure if the image is falsified.
Interestingly, Frank Azor, who is Chief of Marketing for Consumer .
Keep in mind that Azor did not confirm that the image was real, although the AMD executive did not call him false, but, of course, he does not work for PowerColor).
ANALYSIS: Ready for the GPU AMD VS NVIDIA MID-RANGE GPU?
The launch date of March 6 for RX 9070 models, if it turns out to be correct, it is undoubtedly an interesting option, mainly because Nvidia has just announced on March 5 is when RTX 5070 reaches the shelves. So, as we theorize earlier this week, this is very similar to an average range between RX 9070 and RTX 5070 in the first week of March.
As for the PSU requirement, I would not be scared on the potential scenario of the RX 9070 models in some way that require vast energy deposits. Some of the most fornid models can, but we must remember, the Red Devil plate mentioned in the leak is a high -end graphics card, and as Azor observed, other models will require less power. In fact, the rumor is that the 9070 XT reference of AMD will request a 750W feeding source, with the RX 9070 vanilla that needs 650W, much more modest requirements (add condiments with that yet).
It is also worth noting that 900W is a strange specification here, since there is no PSU that deliver that exact figure, as far as I know. There are 850W models and then we jumped at 1000W, so why PowerColor is (theoretically) placing the requirement just above 850W, on a non -existent PSU support (so to speak), I am not sure. This might be another suggestion that the image is falsified.
That said, I do not doubt that an RX 9070 XT model will drink much more juice than a standard board. It will clearly do it, so it would not be a surprise if the best dogs in the world of RDNA 4 graphics card are considerably more demanding in the PC energy supply. These GPUs will also cost much more than the XX products of entry level 9070 too, and how AMD competitive graphics cards will be in terms of prices is the other key question that we die for having answered.
We will have those answers soon, fortunately. Roll at the end of February.
