The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has presented a new online system for vehicle registration, tax payment and issuance of universal registration under the “Dastak” platform.
The system, which was launched in an event held at the home of the main minister, aims to simplify the vehicle -related services and reduce the need for citizens to visit government offices, said Express News.
The KP Prime Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur formally inaugurated the system, which will allow citizens to complete several services, such as vehicle registration and tax payments, from the comfort of their homes.
The measure is expected to improve transparency, reduce corruption and increase the efficiency of government services.
The project had a pilot phase in September 2023, which saw the record of 13,229 vehicles, the issuance of 71,654 coupons and the transfer of property for 6,437 vehicles.
The initiative generated more than RS28 million revenues and issued 13,738 universal numbers plates.
Gandapur praised the efforts of the Special Tax Department to successfully implement the system and emphasized the positive impact of digitalization on public services.
He also highlighted the economic benefits of the initiative, stating that the province had increased its income by 49% through the efficient use of resources.
The system is expected to have a positive effect in preventing theft and misuse of the vehicle, and citizens can complete all necessary online tasks.
The prime minister also announced plans to use technology to fight drug abuse, urging citizens to cooperate with the authorities in the fight against illicit drugs.
In his speech, Gandapur expressed his commitment to the progress of the province, stating that KP will continue to press for development and justice, even if that means taking legal actions in each forum.
