“I thought it was too much. As I said, when I went out to football in my third year, I wanted to quit smoking. And … my dad looked at me, ‘You’re not going to resign,” Taylor recalled.
“And then, once I began to get it a little, he said: ‘Hey, you have to be better than the next man just to be the same.’ Then, listen, I go after who is in front of me, that is with whom with whom I have to deal with. “
The professional football hall did a good job in their 13 years of career to deal with the person in front of him. Taylor spent his entire career with the New York giants, winning two Super Bowls.

Taylor won the NFL MVP in 1986, becoming one of the only two defensive players in NFL’s history to win the MVP.
In that 1986 season, Taylor had 20½ catches. For Taylor, his goal was simple: finding football.
“I think many coaches, or my coaches anyway, allowed me to play the game as I saw it. (People say) you have to get here, you have to go there. Well, no. I have to go out here, but I’m trying to get here.
