The gardener of the Auburn Tigers, Cade Belyeu, opened the 2025 season with a heavy heart and huge emotional pressure on his shoulders while the team played the Crusados of Holy Cross.
Belyeu connected a solitary home run at the sixth entrance against Holy Cross. It was Belyeu and the first home run of the Tigres season. It turned out that he played for more than a victory at the beginning of the season.

The second year’s student, Staci, had died after a battle against breast cancer a few hours before. Auburn chief coach Butch Thompson said the team was trying to discover what they were going to do if Belyeu was going to take the night to collect their thoughts.
“He said Staci wanted me to play,” Thompson told the advertiser of Montgomery. “I think it was the most inspiring we have seen. Our crowd is simply incredible. They absolutely felt what was happening with him … an inspiration of Cade Belyeu.”

Auburn won the 4-1 game. The Tigers finally finished the series, taking two of three from Holy Cross.
Belyeu was 6 of 12 on the dish against the crusaders over the weekend. He hit his solitary home run and had two races promoted in the victory of the series. It also had five stolen bases.
Auburn is back in action on Tuesday against Troy.
The 6–inch gardener was named for the SEC All-Freshman team last season.

Auburn finished 27-26 last season and were 8-22 against opponents of the SEC. The team did not make the postseason.
