The Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) has issued a climate advice that predicts rain and snowfall in several regions of the country from February 19 to 21.
According to the department, Western winds are expected to enter the upper areas of Pakistan, bringing significant climatic changes, including strong winds and rains.
In Punjab, Lahore and several surrounding districts are expected to experience racing winds and heavy rains. It is likely that areas such as Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat receive rain, with effects that extend to other parts of the province.
The mountain stations of Murree and Garyat, together with other mountainous regions, will witness the rain and the snowfall, with the possibility of extending the snow to other regions of Punjab.
On February 19, light rain is anticipated in cities such as fine, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffarhrh, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara and Bahawalnagar, accompanied by snowfall in mountainous areas.
The general director of the Provincial Authority for Disaster Management (PDMA), Irfan Ali Kathia, has urged tourists to remain cautious and adjust their travel plans based on climatic conditions.
He stressed that the PDMA control room is actively monitoring the 24/7 situation, and citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary trips during the adverse climate. In case of emergencies, the PDMA 1129 help line is still available for help.
In addition to the expected rainfall and snowfall, most parts of the country are forecast to experience a cold and partially cloudy climate during the next twelve hours.
However, the isolated regions in Gilgit-Baltistán, Alto Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the northeast of Baluchistan can experience rain, wind, storm and light snowfall in the hills.
Temperatures in the main cities of this morning were recorded as follows: Islamabad and Muzaffarabad at 7 ° C, Lahore at 15 ° C, Karachi at 22 ° C, Peshawar and Quetta at 9 ° C, Gilgit at 4 ° C and Murree at 2nd C.
