Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the new Rece Tayyip Erdogan exchange near the F-8 and F-9 sectors, recognizing the rapid and successful completion of the project in an 84-day record.
During the opening ceremony, the prime minister praised the efforts of the Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the Islamabad administration and the contractors to complete the exchange before planned and below the cost originally estimated.
The project, initially scheduled to take six months, was completed at a cost of RS 3,655 million, which is lower than the original RS budget 4,000 million.
Prime Minister Shehbaz declared that the newly built exchange will help relieve traffic congestion, facilitating the softest trips for the residents of the capital. He also noted that the project would help connect key roads and improve access to other areas such as Sector G-8, G-9, Highway Kashmir and Centaurus Mall, benefiting approximately 70,000 vehicles per day.
In addition, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that plans to beautify the city would be carried out in collaboration with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, focusing on improving the quality of life of Islamabad residents.
The exchange, named for the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, follows Erdogan’s recent visit to Pakistan, where the prime minister presented a plaque to commemorate the occasion. The Prime Minister mentioned that he would send the details of the opening ceremony to President Erdogan as a show of gratitude for his friendship with Pakistan.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in his speech, stressed that the project was completed in a very short period due to the leadership and leadership of the prime minister. Mohsin Naqvi also revealed plans for a large -scale plantation campaign to address air pollution and smog problems in the city, which will begin next month.
The underground passage 1.3 kilometers long was completed in 42 days, while the high passage of 1.1 kilometers was also built as part of the project. The exchange will significantly reduce traffic in the F-8 Chowk, where approximately 41,000 vehicles passed daily before the completion of the project.
Last week, Pakistan and Turkiye signed 24 agreements and mous to improve bilateral cooperation after the seventh session of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council of Pakistan-Turkiye in Islamabad on Thursday.
