- A new leak shows the Sony WF-C710n headphones in great detail
- The specifications suggest a proximity sensor and updates for the duration of ANC and the battery
- Headphones could be launched as soon as May 2025
Two years after the Sony WF-C700N were launched, and headed our list of the best budgeted wireless headphones at that time, the electronic products manufacturer seems to do it again.
Walkman’s blog has obtained filtered photos of the WF-C710N headphones, along with a series of specifications and guidance on the price and a launch window, apparently provided by “a very reliable source.”
This follows a previous design leak through a Taiwanese certification agency in January, but this time there are many more details.
The headphones are shown in four different colors: black, white, pink and a pleasantly retro transparent blue that shows the internal operation of the outbreak, along with a complementary load box.
WF-C710N headphones share the 5 mm controllers of their predecessor, IPX4 water resistance and ANC support, with a couple of notable changes.
On the one hand, there is now a dual microphone configuration for a more advanced noise cancellation, and a proximity sensor, fortunately, means that they will offer wear detection, which the previous model was missing. Bluetooth 5.3 is also included, compared to Bluetooth 5.2 in the last model.
The battery life will also change slightly, with the outbreaks that reached 8.5 hours with Anc activated and 12 hours in total through the load case, instead of the 7.5 hours of the outbreaks and 15 hours in total through the case of load of the previous model. That is an improvement in one direction, but one step back in the other, we may be pleasantly surprised and we will discover that the total battery duration is better than it seems.
Walkman’s blog predicts a launch window from the end of May, to a PVP of $ 110-120, around the same price as the previous model.
Improving perfection
In our WF-C700N review, Techradar Audio Editor, Becky Scarrott, wrote that “Sony has taken everything I loved from its most expensive headphones and squirrel in smaller headphones, at a lower price. You don’t get LDAC without losses or the first level DSEEE of the firm, but for this money, the audio quality cannot be exceeded “
While there are better headphones, this line of headphones is quite perfect for its price almost than $ 100, and it is exciting to see Sony build on that success with a new model. It looks like an iterative update, instead of a transformative change, but if you keep the WF-C710n affordable headphones, we have little to complain.
Hopefully we get some of the most interesting colors of the WF-C700N, such as lavender or wise green, in the future.
