It is no longer uncommon to find former soccer players, hockey players and fighters who suffered the disease in the times of their deaths.
“Seeing the pain and anguish suffered by her lifetime friend Stan Mikita, Bobby firmly felt that no other family should have to endure CTE,” said Deborah Hull, 39 -year -old Bobby’s wife, in a communicated through the Legacy Foundation of Concussion Legacy. “He insisted on donating his brain, feeling that it was his duty to help progress in research on this agonizing disease.”

“The NHL families deserve to know that CTE can be a consequence of the impacts of the head they receive while playing,” added the CEO of the CEO of Concussion Legacy Foundation, Dr. Chris Nowinski. “The NHL still refuses to recognize this scientific truth, so we hope that this message will reach current players so that, at least, they can play with informed consent.”
Hull played 23 professional ice hockey seasons: 16 in the NHL, and seven others in the World Hockey Association. He made his NHL debut in 1957 before hanging his skates in 1980.
Hull helped Chicago’s Blackhawks two Stanley Cup titles, and was a MVP 12 times and twice MVP. His son, Brett, was also a 20 -year -old NHL veteran and, like his father, is in the hockey hall.
