Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the first electric bus transport system in LaHore, with the aim of providing a more affordable and ecological trip.

Passengers will also have free Internet access and load facilities on board.

Nawaz also announced plans to introduce 500 more electric buses in August and expand the Metrobus service to Faisalabad and Gujranwala in the next financial year.

In addition, the Government aims to provide 100,000 electric bicycles to students as part of their impulse for transport modernization.

Authorities say that the initiative is a step towards reducing traffic congestion and carbon emissions, which makes Lahore’s public transport system more sustainable.

In addition, Peshawar will expand its rapid bus traffic service (BRT) with the addition of 72 new hybrid diesel buses to meet the growing demand and relieve congestion in the city.

During a meeting chaired by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Prime Minister, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, it was decided to launch BRT buses on new routes along Ring Road, Bara Road and Khyber Road, said Express News.

A six -month deadline has been established to complete the civil works required for the purchase of new buses and operations in these new routes.
