The information minister, Attaullah Tarar, warned of legal actions against those who protest and direct social media campaigns against the visit of the head of the Army personnel (COA) to the United Kingdom.
Speaking to Express News on Thursday, Tarar said that the Army Chief received a warm welcome in the United Kingdom, which improved Pakistan’s international position. “The world recognizes the professional abilities of the Armed Forces of Pakistan,” he said.
He accused the Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) of not being able to accept the respect granted to the Chief of the Army abroad. “A handful of criminals launched a campaign on social networks and organized protests, but the patriotic Pakistani have rejected their actions,” he added.
The minister promised actions against those involved in the campaign. “Anyone who damages the integrity and interests of Pakistan will face legal consequences,” he warned.
Tarar said that Pakistan’s economy was improving, with a 32% increase in remittances. He criticized PTI, saying: “While Pakistani abroad contribute positively, a group of instigators does not leave the opportunity to damage the country’s reputation.”
He accused PTI of inciting violence, stating: “They attacked Jinnah House and desecrated the monuments of the martyrs. They do not take into account Pakistan’s security.”
The minister also claimed that PTI followed a “foreign agenda,” facilitated the militants and had a history of supporting terrorism. He cited PTI’s actions on May 9, stating: “There is evidence of what PTI did that day. Its founder even wrote to the IMF, demonstrating his hostility towards Pakistan.”
He dismissed PTI’s political relevance, saying: “His policy is in decline. They have no agenda, so they protest the IMF, one day and the head of the army visits the following. If Pakistan’s success annoyed them, they can continue to continue MORTE, they are trying to try.
