- OnePlus is looking for the approval of the FDA for its sleep apnea detection function
- The OnePlus Watch 3 was launched without the FDA certification for its ECG function
- Without the approval of the FDA, these characteristics are unusable in the US.
OnePlus expects the OnePlus Watch 3 to obtain the approval of the FDA for its new sleep apnea detection function, closering one more step to rival the best Apple watches.
We have been testing the OnePlus Watch 3 all this week, and it is a power of a clock. With five days (120 hours) of battery duration, sophisticated health monitoring and all the uses of smarts and third -party applications in their metaphorical fingers, it is likely to end in our best list of Android watches.
However, an area where Apple’s watches cannot compete is the approval of its characteristics by the United States Drug and Food Administration (FDA). With the FDA certification seen as the gold standard for health -based characteristics, the ECG function of the Watch 3 OnePlus could not receive this certification in time for the launch, leaving the possible US users useless.
Not to be dissuaded, OnePlus is looking for the regulatory approval of the FDA for a different characteristic, the detection of sleep apnea, first identified by Warable during an interview with Dr. Leo Zhang of OnePlus, head of research and development. Sleep Apnea is one of the scanned characteristics as part of the 60 -second health registration function of OnePlus Watch 3, along with snoring detection, oxygen saturation and other night metric.
During the launch of Apple Watch Series 10 in September 2024, Apple made a lot of its new function of respiratory alterations, which notifies users who can experience sleep apnea signs and recommend that they register with a medical professional. The characteristic was approved by the FDA days after the launch of the device.
OnePlus has a significant advantage over Apple with respect to sleep monitoring, and that is the battery life. Compared to the scarce 18 hours of Apple Watch, the 120 -hour Giant of OnePlus can go from day to night free of charge in the middle. Apple receives a fast charge, but if you forget to load it, you are likely to stay with a dead watch in the morning.
Adding a sleep apnea detection function approved by the FDA could be a great congratulation for OnePlus, although given the Gulf between Android and the best iPhone watches, it is unlikely that this is the decisive factor for users who seek to change the Operating systems
