Although the iPhone 16E is the last member of the iPhone 16 family, Apple had to rebalance the list of functions and hardware inside to reduce the price to $ 599 / £ 599 / AU $ 999. After all, that is $ 200 less than the initial price of the iPhone 16 in the United States, so some functionality simply had to go.
However, that does not mean that it is not full of characteristics. The 16E iPhone still obtains an A18 processor for rapid performance and the ability to execute Apple Intelligence. It is also combined with a 6.1 -inch XDR Super Retina screen, a single camera in the rear, face ID and a design that makes it compatible with the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max.
So what is missing? Well, apart from losing some connectivity, it is also a camera story and how the iPhone 16E is loaded; We are going to immerse ourselves.
A GPU core less than the iPhone 16
Taking into account that it is more affordable than the iPhone 16, this small adjustment with the A18 processor made to Apple is not surprising. The 16E iPhone still comes with the A18 chip, but instead of a 5 -core GPU like the iPhone 16, it only obtains 4 cores. It still has a 5 -core CPU and a 16 -core neuronal engine, so it is likely that this slightly less powerful graphic processing unit does not mark a difference in daily use.
Apple probably created this A18 chip slightly less powerful to keep it inside the family. Alternatively, I could have used the A17 Pro chip, which has a 6 -core CPU, 5 -core GPU and a 16 -core neuronal motor, as it did with the iPad Mini.
Even so, expect the 16E iPhone to act and work as an iPhone 16, which means that IOS 18 and several applications should be executed without problems.
Last generation photographic styles and a lens
The first thing about the camera is quite obvious: the 16E iPhone simply has a lens, just like the iPhone I know that came before. Without the Ultrawide, it will be a little more limited in the types of photos that you can capture, and discard the phone’s ability to take macro shots.
Even so, you have a significant update on the third generation of iPhone SE, since the main lens here is a 48 megapixel fusion chamber that can shoot at 1x or 2x. You will have access to edit your captures in the application photos with the ability to use AI to ‘clean’ your photos. However, if you want to add your own flare or take the iPhone, you will not get the last and best photographic styles of Apple.
This is not a decisive factor, but you can not necessarily reflect and adjust them to your liking. The other hardware piece that is missing is the control of the camera, it is not here. However, with the arrival of the action button, you can configure this to open the application of the camera.
Magsafe missing
One of my favorite parts of the iPhone, since it was introduced with the iPhone 12, is Magsafe: it makes the wireless load much easier and feeds a growing accessory ecosystem. He had great hope that Apple had thrown the magnetic ring circular to his next affordable iPhone, but that is not the case.
The 16E iPhone simply offers wireless load using the original Qi standard, as well as the third generation predecessor of the iPhone SE. It can also be charged by a maximum of 7.5 watts, which is a bit less than Magsafe or Qi-2.

There is no mmwave connectivity or ultra wide band
Finally, with respect to the significant things that are missing, the 16E iPhone only admits 5g Sub-6 GHz. This means that this iPhone cannot connect to the MMWave spectrum for potentially faster speeds. The iPhone 16 admits this, but it is worth noting that Apple maintains this community with the iPhone before.
