- Administrators have received a 60 -day reminder about this driver’s deprecation
- Wsus has also been given a limited useful life
- Microsoft is pressing for cloud -based alternatives
Microsoft has issued a 60 -day reminder that the synchronization of the Windows Server (WSUS) update controller will be disapproved as of April 18, 2025.
The two -month warning serves as a reminder for administrators to make the transition to alternative solutions, but the reality is that they have even had more time than to prepare: Microsoft first announced the change in June 2024.
After deprecation, the import of controllers in WSU will no longer be possible, but controllers in the first half will remain available through the Microsoft update catalog, confirms the company.
WSUS controller synchronization will end in two months
“You must use any of the available alternative solutions, such as device controllers or transition to cloud -based controllers for your organization, such as Microsoft Intune and Windows Autathch,” the company said.
In June 2024, when they informed us for the first time, the Microsoft senior programs manager, Paul Reed, confirmed only one in three (34%) used the tool to synchronize the controllers, and most were already in the Alternative systems implementation process.
However, Reed said the company was committed to helping the remaining 8% who expressed concern about the effects of deprecation.
Reed wrote: “For local contexts, controllers will be available in the Microsoft update catalog, but will not be able to import them to the WSU. You must use other media, such as device controllers, to distribute controllers within your network, ”and adds that Microsoft planned to promulgate deprecation on April 18, a date on which it has been trapped.
In more general terms, it was revealed in September 2024 that WSUS is ready for depreciation (through The registration), with the company pushing cloud -based alternatives as intuit.
