Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Baku on Sunday for an official two-day visit for Pakistan-Azerbaijan ties, said Prime Minister’s office (PMO). It was received by Senior officials from Azerbaijan when landing at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, according to the PMO.
During his visit, he is scheduled to meet with the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and other senior officials to discuss bilateral trade, investment, energy cooperation, defense collaboration and cultural exchanges. Leaders will also explore joint efforts on climate change.
“Discussions will focus on further strengthening bilateral relations, expanding trade and investment, improving cooperation in the energy sector, synergating efforts to deal with climate change, deepening defense collaboration and promoting cultural exchanges,” The PMO said.
Multiple agreements and comprehension memorandes (MOU) are expected to be signed during the visit.
As part of their commitments, Shehbaz and Azerbaiyani leaders will go to the Pakistan-Azerbaijan business forum on Monday. The forum will bring together the business leaders of both nations to explore commercial opportunities and joint companies, with emphasis on business to business.
The prime minister is accompanied by a high -level ministerial delegation, including the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, the Minister of Investment and Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, Pakistanis Minister abroad abroad Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar and the special.
