The Federal Government has affirmed its willingness to provide an uninterrupted energy supply to consumers during the hours of Sehri and IFTAR in all areas of Ramadan, including those with high theft of electricity, according to Express News.

The Minister of Energy, Owais Leghari, said that immediate instructions would be issued to guarantee uninterrupted power for fasting homes. Leghari also dismissed speculation on imposing a solar tax, stating that there were no past or future plans for such tax.

He suggested that power rates could be further reduced in the coming months.

During a Permanent Senate Committee on the Energy Meeting, government officials provided updates on negotiations with independent energy producers (IPP).

Special Assistant of the Prime Minister on Muhammad Ali Power said that the agreements with six IPP had already been rescinded, and the discussions were ongoing to make the transition from other payments in dollars to local currency.

He pointed out that the reduction of circular debt remained a priority, with plans to give up interests on pending quotas and seek loans of fixed costs of banks to have liabilities.

The meeting saw a dispute over journalists who record the procedures.

A journalist tried to film, which led Leghari to question whether the parliamentary rules allowed such recordings.

Senator Shibli Faraz commented that journalists could face actions under the cyber laws of Pakistan if they reported the session badly.

However, the president of the Committee, Senator Mohsin Aziz, failed in favor of allowing the coverage of the media, recognizing that the state broadcasters took you to free images.

Decisions on the supply of electricity and energy sector reforms occur when Pakistan fights with an economic crisis and the increase in energy costs, which makes key public concerns and accessibility.
