Microsoft Edge has just obtained an intelligent feature that a few people have been waiting for a long time, the ability to control how much RAM the web browser becomes, with a useful side that serves for players here too.
The latest Windows reports that resource controls are now live in the finished (stable) version of Edge, after having been in evidence since mid -2024.
These are controls to limit the amount of RAM that that edge uses (it is certainly not the only hardware resource on a computer, but an important part of the image, particularly for a web browser by executing a complete tab load).
The resource control panel offers a sliding control that can be adjusted so that the entire RAM of the system is available for edge, or as little as 1 GB.
You can also choose if that limit applies all the time, or only when you play a PC game. The last option allows those interested in the games to work with the edge normally, with the total amount of RAM, when doing other tasks, but every time a PC game is executed, the assignment of the navigator system memory You can cut considerably to help ensure that the games work. A little softer.
It is likely not a world of difference for players, but each additional framework helps in terms of having a better game experience. Google Chrome, takes notes.
ANALYSIS: A definitive advantage over Chrome
You may be thinking: Why would I want Edge to run while I am playing, anyway? Fair Point, and close the browser completely releases the maximum amount of memory resources for the PC game you are playing.
However, there may be situations in which you address a game for a single player and get stuck, needing to consult a tutorial. Then, in that case, you may want Edge to run in the background with the open tutorial so that the alternative table between the game and the tips can. You will want a minimum impact on your game session, so you can reject the downward edge to use only a small amount of RAM.
Obviously, Edge can also be limited in the general use of his computer, giving more than his RAM to the other applications he has running on his PC, but would be very careful for being too tacaƱo with the memory allocation for the Microsoft browser. It is likely that turning it to the absolute minimum of 1 GB of RAM (or close to there) makes the edge look like an old rusty steamboat, especially if it has multiple open eyelashes.
My advice, then, is not to go too far to the left side (minimum) with that ram slider, and start with a more average environment to test the waters. As you can imagine, it will be a little test and error about exactly where it could be better to place the sliding control for your particular system.
In general, new resource controls are an intelligent movement to give Edge something extra about its great rival chrome. Google’s browser has performance alert New Edge introduction.
I have to say that I am more tempted than ever to change Edge right now. I use the Microsoft browser as a secondary option at this time, here and there, but maybe it is time to start thinking about it as the main candidate, or at least give it a turn for a while.
