The legendary university basketball coach Jim Boeheim had great praise and a high comparison for Duke Star Cooper Flagg.
Boeheim, 80, was asked, how good is Flagg compared to some of the greats of the NBA.
“I think it’s almost, for me, it’s [Larry] Like bird, a little. Except that it is faster, faster, more athletic, it does not shoot it too, but his shot is approaching, “Boeheim said during a recent” not with Dakich “Outkick.

In 27 games played, Flagg averages 19.5 points per game, while averaging almost eight rebounds and four assists per game.
The 18-year-old Maine native is the catalyst of a 24-3 team that currently occupies second place in the nation behind Auburn.
For Boeheim, it is clear that Flagg is the best player in the university game.
“People who say that other people are better that he simply knows anything about basketball. I mean it’s crazy. I mean they have to be, I don’t know what they are seeing. Maybe they are just trying to be contrary or Something like that, I don’t know, “Boeheim said.

“Cooper Flagg, is the best player in all the world in terms of doing all things in the university basketball I have seen. I mean there are better shooters, better rebounds, better passersby, but he is a defender.”
There is more than Boeheim says that Flagg brings to the table in addition to being one of the best versatile players.
“I’ve talked to [former Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski] About this. He has an advantage for him. He is not going back from anyone, and in good sense, “he said.
Boeheim has seen many great basketball players throughout his long career as a coach, including Carmelo Anthony, who helped take Syracuse to a national championship in 2003.
Boeheim was Syracuse’s chief coach from 1976 to 2023 and accumulated a 115-441 professional record.

Boeheim took Syracuse to the Final Four five times and was the regular Big East champion 10 times while winning the Big East tournament five times.
If Boeheim is right, and Flagg turns out to have a race like Larry Bird’s, any team that writes will be excited.
Bird is in the basketball hall. It was three times MVP and three times NBA champion while making 12 games of stars.
