- An alleged reference point for RX 9070 XT of AMD has emerged
- Suggests that RDNA 4 GPU 4 could match the RTX 4080
- This is another in a line of leaks indicating that this is the case
Another clue has been eliminated that the Radeon Rx 9070 XT graphics card of AMD will be more powerful than what was indicated above, and that it could be equal to RTX 4080.
WCCFTECH reports that a Gigabyte (Gaming OC) RX 9070 XT was highlighted in a reference point by a user in Anandtech forums (GAAV87). This was a 20,732 points Furmark score (345 pictures per second) in the OpenGL graphics stress test to the 1080p resolution.
Now, take that with the most common skepticism reserved for such supposed leaks, but if it is correct, this score would mean that, as mentioned, 9070 XT could offer a level of performance similar to RTX 4080 (in reality, it will come to NVIDIA GPU to SMIDGE).
However, more care is needed here because the reference point was executed in Linux, and those comparisons are drawn with the RTX 4080 in Windows, so that is not a matter of apples to apples.
That said, there is another recent filtration of 9070 XT courtesy of Furmark that showed that the GPU reached approximately the same type of performance (equivalent to RX 7900 XTX, in other words, in which RTX 4080 Ballpark). In that case, the graphics card was not appointed, but it was quite easy to rebuild the clues of what GPU it was.
In addition to this, another piece of spill, this supposedly direct AMD, also suggests that the 9070 XT will be launched around this same level, allowing it to be competitive against RTX 5070 TI, in theory.
This fresh leak also brings some additional information, related to thermal, with the 9070 XT apparently facing very well considering that Furmark is a stress test, which means that the GPU challenges with a very demanding workload that pushes the chip with force.
The 9070 XT apparently contains its heat levels to 55 degrees Celsius during this hard training, which is entrusted.
ANALYSIS: Watching, although with touches of ‘hopium’ on the price front
The result is that RX 9070 XT looks very promising here, both in terms of gross performance and its ability to stay fresh under pressure. It is worth noting that the Gaming OC Graphics card presented in this last leak is a medium level model of Gigabyte, so this is not its best cooling solution in action (although it is not a level of entry level either, that is the wind force).
These are exciting revelations, although they come with warnings, and the fact that Furmark is definitely not 3dmark (and in addition, the synthetic reference points only come so far in the estimation of the performance of a GPU). Even so, it is a more revealing metric than Geekbench graphics tests, and speaking of them, dissipates the notions recently presented through Geekbench that RDNA 4 will not be so much to shout, in terms of the speed of the paintings.
Finally, it is worth taking into account that last month, the YouTuber Moore law is transmitted by the YouTuber Moore law that during development, AMD was pointing to RX 9070 XT to be a faster touch than the founding edition RTX 4080 of NVIDIA, which is the statement we see in all these leaks.
It seems to me that there is more than a real grain here, with all these rumors aligned, but as always, let’s not leave speculation, even if everything seems to be aligned in a reasonably convincing way.
In addition, as I continue to hit, whatever the performance level of the 9070 models, the AMD price of these new GPU will be essential, and we will see the complete image tomorrow, with the price it will be revealed in the AMD press event for RDNA 4.
I cannot wait, and I hope that Team Red does the right thing, and not only delivers a lower price cut in relation to the price of NVIDIA and the proposal of general value, but an important blow (an uppercut, so to speak, from the juggling desk GPU).
However, I must recognize that rumors arise that suggest that AMD could boost the disappointing MSRP to make profits instead of assuming Nvidia in the middle range. With luck, that is wrong, and yes, there is a lot of hope of having a march, I admit it completely.
