The Central Committee Ruet-E-Hilal will meet today in Peshawar (Friday) for the sighting of the Ramadan moon. However, the Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) has said that there are little chances of observing the Ramadan moon on Friday due to cloudy climate.

The Central Committee Ruet-E-Hilal will meet in Peshawar at 6:30 pm on February 28 to determine the beginning of the Holy Month. The president of the Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, will preside over the meeting after the ASR prayer.

According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Zonal Committees throughout the country will also meet separately to evaluate the moon sighting reports. The religious scholars of several schools of thought will participate in the central session.

The MET office has predicted partially cloudy conditions in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, during the next 24 hours. “Due to the cloudy climate, the possibility of observing the Ramadan moon is low,” said the department.

The PMD said that at sunset, the age of the moon would be around 12 hours, with an angular separation of the moon of approximately five degrees, factors that could further reduce visibility.
