The legend of the Wayne Gretzky hockey has been criticized by other Canadians for its apparent support to President Donald Trump.
Trump has taken disdain from the country in the north to say that it should become the “State 51” and initiate tariffs on Canadian goods.
Before the 4 -nations confrontation championship between the United States and Canada in Boston, Gretzky was appointed Honorary Captain of Canada, and received violent reactions.

That led to the legend of the Hockey Bobby Orr, a Canadian partner, to write in the Toronto Sun that he was disappointed when he read criticism about someone whom he considers one of the “best Canadians in history.”
“How volatile people can be, when someone who has given so long and effort to Canadian hockey is treated in that way,” said the Orr column. “Listen, we all have our personal beliefs when it comes to things like religion and politics. Wayne respects their right to such beliefs: why can’t you respect yours?”
Janet Gretzky, Wayne’s wife, saw the Orr column, and she reacted on social networks.
“Thank you Mr. Bobby Orr. Your words mean the world for Wayne and his family, I have never met anyone who is more proud to be Canadian and has broken his heart to read and see the bad comments. He would do anything for Canadians to feel proud, with his love for hockey and his country,” Janet wrote in an Instagram post in which he shared the column of Orr.

Janet’s publication did not finish criticism.
A user commented: “You can’t be a great Canadian if you support Trump, who trying to destroy Canada is that simple.”
Another wrote: “Written of a Trumper for another. If Wayne is so proud, maybe he should make a public statement denouncing his friend’s call to attach his homeland. Thank you would speak stronger than anything a partner Trumper could write about him.”
Trump recently said he asked Gretzky to become the next “Governor of Canada” after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that he would resign.
But after Gretzky expressed his support for “Canada that was a separate country, instead of becoming a precious and beautiful state 51,” Trump declared Gretzky a “free agent.”
“I don’t want anyone in Canada to say something bad about him. He supports Canada as he is, as he should, although it is not as good as it could be part of the world’s largest and most powerful country, the good United States!” Trump wrote in a real social publication on Wednesday.
