LAHORE:
In an interesting development, President Asif Ali Zardari has returned to Lahore for a two-day stay during which he will hold a crucial meeting with the president of PML-N, Nawaz Sharif, Las Fuentes revealed Thursday.
This is Zari’s second visit to the provincial capital of Punjab in a week. The president, who is also the co -chair of the PPP, was in Lahore on February 22 and February 23.
Previously, it was reported that the president was scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the stay. However, such a meeting took place.
However, the PPP’s supreme leader held a meeting with the provincial leadership of the party, which informed him of the difficulties facing the PPP in the country’s political power.
However, this time, the president will meet with the president of PML-N, Nawaz Sharif, the sources said Thursday.
They said the meeting will focus on discussing the challenges facing the PPP in Punjab. The governor of Punjab, Sardar Salem Haider, Khan, will also be present at the meeting.
Key decisions will be made to address PPP concerns in Punjab. The president will also meet with leaders from the center of Punjab, the sources added.
Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif met Thursday with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s leadership (KP) of his party.
On this occasion, the former Senator and Central Information Secretary of ANP, Zahid Khan, expressed his confidence in Nawaz’s leadership and announced his decision to join the PML-N, reaffirming his commitment to play an active political role.
According to a statement issued by the PML-N, Khan said that the PML-N program under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif could help solve the current problems of Pakistan and the KP.
“Nawaz Sharif’s government had restored peace in the KP by eliminating terrorism and initiating development projects that benefited people.
“The Lowari tunnel project, which had stagnated for years, was completed under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, providing great comfort to the people of Chitral,” he added.
He also praised the performance of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Prime Minister, stating that KP people also want PML-N leadership in his province.
Nawaz Sharif welcomed Zahid Khan to PML-N, recognizing him as an experienced political worker whose inclusion would strengthen the party.
He said: “The KP is Pakistan’s heart, and its people have made great sacrifices in the movement of Pakistan and in the fight against terrorism.”
He said that the PML-N agenda is to guarantee the prosperity of people and raise Pakistan among developed nations.
