Islamabad:
Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates signed five agreements on Thursday to boost bilateral cooperation in different fields, including bank investment, railways, mining and infrastructural.
The documents were signed during the first official visit of the heir prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pakistan, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The heir prince and the prime minister witnessed the ceremony when the officials of both sides exchanged the previously signed documents of agreements and memorandums of understanding for cooperation in several fields.
The members of the Federal Cabinet and the head of the Army staff, General Syed also Munir, and the members of the Eau delegation were also present.
Both countries signed an agreement to promote bilateral cooperation in the banking field. Secretary Finance Imdadullah Bosal and CEO and MD of IHC Syed Basar Shueb exchanged the documents.
The two parties also signed another agreement to increase cooperation in the field of mining. The CEO of Pakistan Railways Amir Ali Baloch and the CEO Etihad Rail Shadi Malik exchanged the documents for two mous for cooperation in the field of railways.
Similarly, the investment board of Secretary Nadeem Chaudhary and CEO Captain Ad Ports. Muhammad Juma Al Shamisi exchanged the documents for a MOU in the field of infrastructure investment.
Previously, the heir prince of Abu Dhabi and the president of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed al Nahyan, called Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his official visit to Pakistan on Thursday and discussed issues of bilateral interest.
This was Sheikh Khalid’s first official visit to Pakistan, in his capacity as heir prince.
The prime minister welcomed the heir prince of Abu Dhabi while reaffirming Pakistan’s resolution to further strengthen his historical and fraternal ties between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. One of the parties was followed by conversations at the delegation level.
Remembering its most productive meeting with its highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed al Nahyan, president of the EAU in Abu Dhabi earlier this month, the prime minister said it was a great satisfaction that the two countries were now working more closely than ever, to transform their excellent political links into a mutually beneficial economic association. The prime minister said that during his recent visit to Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railroad and Uzbekistan project showed a great interest in the project. In addition, he said that the project will benefit the ports of Gwadar and Abu Dhabi and prove to be a change of play for the entire region.
The prime minister praised the constant and strong support of the EAU to Pakistan in several fields, even in difficult times. He deeply appreciated the great interest shown by the EAU in the expansion of his investment portfolio in Pakistan and commented that the recent successful investment initiatives between several Pakistani entities and the ports of Abu Dhabi were a brilliant example of this robust cooperation and constantly expanding.
Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed, who was accompanied by a delegation that included senior officials and business leaders, thanked the prime minister and reaffirmed the firm support of the EAU for the economic development and prosperity of Pakistan.
On this occasion, both leaders also witnessed the exchange of several mous and agreements between both sides. The Mou/Agreements were signed in the fields of banking, mining, the development of infrastructure and railways.
Meanwhile, in a publication about X, the prime minister said: “Honor welcoming HH Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed al Nahyan, the heir prince of Abu Dhabi and president of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi, today with most of the United States. The family, the pakistan -u ties are growing of strength in strength!”
