There have been questions about whether the Super Bowl champion, Philadelphia Eagles, would visit the White House to celebrate his title.
President Donald Trump told the spectator on Friday that the Eagles, in fact, will visit the White House.
“They come here. Philadelphia comes here,” Trump said.
After the Eagles won their first Super Bowl during Trump’s first mandate in 2018, the team rejected Trump’s invitation to the White House.

Trump announced Tuesday that he would extend an invitation.
“They will be [invited]. We haven’t done it yet, but we will be, “Trump said.” I thought it was a great performance for them. Absolutely, an invitation will be extended. We will do it immediately. We will do it at some point today. They deserve to be here down, and we hope to see them. “

The day after the Super Bowl, the veteran offensive liner Lane Johnson said it would be a “decision of the team” to visit the White House. Johnson was part of the 2018 Super Bowl team that had his invitation rescinded by Trump after some players refused to visit the White House due to Trump’s criticisms to those who knelt or raised his fists during the national anthem in protest of racial injustice and police brutality.
Trump issued a statement at that time about canceling his invitation, saying that “the 1,000 fans who plan to attend the event deserve better.”

“They do not agree with their president because they insist that they proudly defend the national anthem, the hand in the heart, in honor of the great men and women of our army and the people of our country,” said Trump’s statement seven years ago.
