The Auburn Tigers chief coach, Hugh Freeze, was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, university revealed on Friday.
Due to early detection, doctors believe that Freeze Cancer “is very treatable and curable,” according to a school statement. The 55 -year -old man is expected to maintain his football training schedule while fulfilling his job duties during his treatment.
The tigers are scheduled to begin spring at the end of March.

“Recently, coach Freeze was diagnosed with an early form of prostate cancer,” the statement said. “Fortunately, it was detected early and its doctors have reported that it is very treatable and curable. It will continue its normal training duties and responsibilities, and with the next adequate treatment, it is expected to recover completely.”

Auburn officials also shared Freeze’s hope that their health battle serves as a reminder to annually submit to health exams.
“The Freeze coach incredibly appreciates our medical professionals and has asked us to use their experience as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing and programming annual health exams,” the statement said.

Auburn ended with a 6-6 record in the regular season under freezing in 2023, before losing at Music City Bowl. The Tigers did not show much improvement in Freeze’s second season, ending with a 5-7 record.

Auburn reinforced his list through the transfer portal this low season, which could help the team become contenders at the Southeast Conference in 2025.
Freeze previously managed to train while dealing with health problems in the past.
In 2019, he suffered a herniated album on the back and a staphylococcal infection. Freeze continued to train the Liberty Flames football team from a hospital bed that temporarily relocated in the team trainers for the team game on August 31, 2019.
