Mason Alexander, a first -year university soccer player who would compete for the Pittsburgh Panthers, died in a car accident in Indiana, authorities said. I was 18 years old.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s office said the accident occurred on Saturday night when a BMW 340 Blanco 2016 tried to spend a Toyota Rav4 2015 in the south direction by entering the northern lane. The authorities said the BMW driver approached a hill, knew that an accident could occur and approached the right to avoid the Toyota.

The BMW driver slipped through the grass, hit a tree and caught fire, according to Fox 59. The Toyota driver hit a mailbox. Alexander was identified as the BMW driver.
“I received a call this morning that no father, teacher or coach ever wants to receive, the news of the sudden loss of a young and promising life,” said Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi, in a statement. “Our entire program is shocked and deeply sad when they learn about Mason Alexander’s death. Mason had just enrolled in Pitt in January after his early graduation of Indiana Hamilton Southeastern high school in Indiana. Even during that short time, he impressed all.

“Mason was proud and excited to be a panther, and we feel the same for having it in our Pitt family. It will always be a panther for us. The Alexander family and the many loved ones and friends of Mason will be in our prayers.”
Alexander attended Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers before signing with Pittsburgh. He enrolled early to join the team for spring practice, according to ESPN.

It was a three -star corner recruit, according to 247 Sports, and qualified for the Top 300 high school players for the 2025 class, according to ESPN.
