- Apple has just updated the entry level iPad, now called iPad (A16)
- The new A16 chip is up to 50% faster than the previous generation, but does not admit Apple’s intelligence
- Maintains the same price and doubles the initial storage
Next to the next generation iPad air presentation with the M3 chip, Apple also updated the entrance level iPad, but it might not be the update that you have been waiting for. The good news is that it still comes in some fun colors and maintains the same initial price. Like the iPad Mini (A17 Pro), it is now iPad (A16), with the name of the processor in the title.
The new iPad starts at $ 349/£ 329/AU $ 599. instead of 64 GB of storage, it comes with 128 GB of internal storage to begin with. This means that it will have more space for applications, photos and files, among other things.
It is the first product released by Apple in the recent memory that does not support Apple Intelligence. The new iPad works with the A16 chip, which should offer even better performance for the input level model with a 5 -core CPU, a 4 -core GPU and a 16 -core neural engine on the previous A14 chip. However, that chip is not able to intelligence of Apple, so it is important to take that into account and weigh the importance of these characteristics.
Even so, Ipados 18 should work well here and be in shape for games, transmission, editing, web navigation and calls facetime, among other things. Apple says that compared to the previous generation, it is up to 50% faster and that the “A16 causes the updated iPad to be up to 6 times faster than the best selling Android tablet.” We simply do not know what Apple is compared to Android Tablet Apple.
Even without Apple’s intelligence, the eleventh generation iPad with the A16 chip still maintains a USB-C port to load, a tactile identification sensor in the ignition button and admits two keys accessories: Apple Pencil Generation, Apple Pencil with USB-C and the Magic keyboard, which I like customization of more than the appropriate magic keyboard.
Interestingly, the iPad (A16) seems to have a screen slightly larger than the previous generation. It is now measured as a 11 -inch liquid retina screen (2360 x 1640 resolution) with support for the true tone compared to the 10.9 -inch liquid retina screen of tenth generation of the iPad.
Apple note that the iPad still has rounded corners, so the “real visible area is lower” in the ‘technology specifications’ section of the site, but we will have to do once we can go practical if the bezels were reduced.
The iPad still stays with a 12 megapixel camera on the back and a 12 megapixel camera in the front with support for the center of the stage to automatically keep it in the frame for calls. The specifications are completed, stereo landscape speakers, dual microphones to capture audio, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. If you opt for the cell model, you will still admit 5G Sub-6GHz, but there is no support of MMWave, similar to the 16E iPhone.
Like the iPad Air with M3, you can reserve the iPad (A16) at this time if it is already sold and will formally launch on March 12, 2025.
