Peshawar:
Highlighting the deterioration of the situation of the law and order in the province, especially in the newly merged districts, Khyber’s prime minister -Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, directly attributed it to the security situation in neighboring Afghanistan.
He made these comments during his meeting with the British high commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, in his office on Tuesday. They discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly the role of British donor agencies in public welfare initiatives, regional security and other relevant issues.
During the meeting with British HC, Gandapur emphasized the need for serious and results -oriented efforts to find a sustainable solution to this long -standing problem, warning that if the security challenges in the merged districts are not addressed immediately, they could climb and affect the entire country.
In addition, he informed the British envoy that the provincial government had formed a jirga to initiate dialogue with Afghan counterparts, and all the necessary preparations to send the delegation were complete.
However, given that the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the federal government, the administration of KP is waiting for the approval of the terms of reference (Tor) for negotiations, said the cm of KP. He stressed that lasting peace in the region was not only the interest of Pakistan but also in the interest of the entire region and the global community. He called the world community to work collectively towards a permanent resolution through dialogue.
Touching the financial challenges facing the province, the prime minister criticized the federal government for not releasing KP’s due participation under the Prize of the National Finance Commission (NFC), particularly for the newly merged districts. He affirmed that more than 2002000 billion in net earnings payments of Hydel remain unpaid by the federal government.
