- An apparently filtered image shows the DJI Osmo 360 together with the Insta360 x4
- The lens looks larger than that of X4, which suggests a different sensor size
- Its design has more in common with the Gopro Max, whose successor is delayed
DJI seems to be in the muscle in the 360 degree camera space, if a series of rumors and a recently wet image are something to happen.
The tireless-pitillero dji @hakashi shared the image of the rumored Dji Osmo 360 in X (previously Twitter), in which he sits together with the Insta360 x4, which is the best 360 degrees camera currently available, and the Osmo Action 5 pro of DJI Chamber (see below).
Based on the image, @hakashi makes an observation about the rumored Osmo 360: its diameter of the lens seems to be wider than that of X4. This probably means that OSMO 360 has a larger image sensor.
According to stories, this is not a surprise. OSMO Action 5 Pro de DJI Prioritizes the size of the sensor on the resolution, with the objective of a better low light image quality than GoPro Hero 13 Black and Insta360 Ace Pro 2 rivals, among other benefits.
Bigger lens = bigger sensor! #DJI #OSMO360 seems to have a larger lens diameter (internal circle) that #Insta360x4 that has a 1/2 “sensor. I don’t think Osmo360 has 1 inch, but 1/1.3”. pic.twitter.com/d1elosduafMarch 2, 2025
The size matters
The illusions would point to the 360 Rumored Osmo sensor being a much larger size size, the same type that is found in the Vlogging Dji Osmo Pocket 3 camera.
However, we would not surprise us if DJI uses the same 1/1.3 -inch sensor as Action 5 Pro in its potential 360 degree camera, which is still larger than the type of 1/2 inch used by the Insta360 x4, even if it is much smaller than a 1 -inch sensor.
The leaked image, if it is authentic, also confirms that DJI has identified the square of square form similar to the GoPro Max as preferable to the set profile of the Insta360 X4, and that is bad news for GoPro whose Max 2 has been beaten by numerous delays and has not yet been released.
Each design is more suitable for different users. The square design is probably better for extreme sports, since it is less likely to get in the way, while the factor similar to the stick is possibly better for vlogging.
DJI is on a roll, and launching its first 360 degree camera would be a welcome shake in a space dominated by Insta360; We hope it is a different perspective to the X4.
