LHC, IHC Take supplication against peca


Lahore/ Islamabad:

The Superior Court of Lahore has sought responses from the PTA and the Punjab government about the requests presented by the PUJ and others that challenge the Law of Electronic Crime Prevention (amendment) of 2025.

During the process, Judge Farooq Haider expressed his discontent for the non -submission of responses by the Punjab government and the PTA. However, the federal government had already presented its response.

The PTA lawyer requested additional time to present an answer. In granting the application, Judge Haider warned that if the PTA does not present its answer to the next hearing, legal measures will be taken.

Meanwhile, the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) issued notices to respondents on another identical request against the Law of Prevention of the Electronic Crimes 2025 (PECA 2025). The Court also summoned the Pakistan Attorney General in the case of the next hearing.

Judge INAAM AMEEN MINHAS OF THE IHC Heard the petition against the law of amendment Peca presented through the lawyer Adil Aziz Qazi. The Court indicated that there are other similar pending requests before the court.

The court issued the parties and postponed the hearing until April 17. The petitioner has appointed the Ministries of Information, Laws and Justice and others as respondents in the case. It can be mentioned that the identical requests of PFUJ, Association of Journalists of the Superior Court of Islamabad and others against the Peque amendment law are also under a hearing in the Superior Court.
