- The Nvidia RTX 5070 Founders Edition card will not be available today
- Nvidia has confirmed that it will arrive at some point in March 2025
- The availability is expected to be incredibly limited, as with other blackwell cards
It is the day of launching of the RTX 5070 with the graphics card of average range now expected now (hopefully) available in the hands of players in the United States, the United Kingdom and beyond. However, it is only AIB for sale for now, since Nvidia has declared that while a founding editing model is approaching, there is still a little way to go.
While the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 founding editing models were sent next to the couple variants (such as Gigabyte, Zotac, MSI, Asroc, Asus), the same cannot be said of the Blackwell offering of average range; Nvidia has confirmed that the RTX 5070 Founders Edition model will arrive “later in March” with an exact date that must still be determined (through Andreas Schilling in X).
According to this source, Nvidia told Schilling about the availability of the lack of founders of the edition only two and a half hours before the revision embargo was lifted. This leaves in doubt the availability of the card made by NVIDIA. Historically, while both the Editing Models of RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 were technically available, they were even more ephemeral than their AIB counterparts (particularly in the United States and the United Kingdom).
Traditionally, the Funders Edition models of the NVIDIA GPUs are most commonly found in the US. Through hybrid retailers (online and brick and mortar) such as micro center and best Buy. While in the United Kingdom, it is typically, only the Nvidia website (and in incredibly limited supply). We have seen that the rest of the Blackwell alignment disappears from the shelves almost instantly, and the same seems likely to; Despite (apparently) a reduced demand against the other three GPUs.
Lack of trust for a problematic product
According to all accounts, RTX 5070 has failed to advance the way in which its predecessors (RTX 4070 Super and RTX 4070) did so in 2024 and 2023 respectively. We gave the last Blackwell GPU a less than 3 star star in our review, citing an almost identical generational performance compared to the RTX 4070 Super despite the jump to the Video PCIE 5.0 and GDDR7 video, which were made (effectively) useless due to the reduction in computer units and transistors in general.
The fact that Nvidia has decided to delay its edition of the cheapest card founders in Blackwell’s alignment could be somewhat revealing. It is possible that you are preparing for a broader availability that was seen in the other three GPUs. However, this could be a strategic movement considering the tomorrow’s launch of RX 9070 and 9070 XT of AMD, none of which will have a reference version (made by AMD). Could Nvidia be retaining your competition with the cheapest variants available? It is a possibility.
That said, the RTX 5070 could be an investment that is worth it if it is updating a 70 ampers card (RTX 30 series) or Turing (RTX 20 Series) for a mass generational impulse of two/three. Some partner cards may be around the promised brand of $ 549, while others will inevitably have a price of more than $ 600 depending on the coldest size, the potential for overclocking, RGB and more.
