- Asus has given us the details of its RTX 5070 launch models
- Three versions of RTX 5070 are being launched, and one is in MSRP
- However, the other two RTX 5070 variants seem abruptly, and there are indications that the stock could be scarce (in addition to the rumors that say the same)
Asus has revealed details of its RTX 5070 graphics cards for the launch day of this new NVIDIA GPU, which today, in case it escapes its attention, and are not good news. Unfortunately, more or less confirms our fears around the potential shortage of stocks and the probability of inflated prices.
Videocardz had such enthusiastic eyes as to notice the publication of Asus in Reddit that describes the launch details of RTX 5070, and there will be three models available to buy later today (in less than a couple of hours, in theory).
The positive news is that there is an ASUS model that debuts in the official MSRP established by Nvidia, which is $ 550 in the United States. This is the main input level of the RTX 5070 (and presumably will also be in line with the recommended NVIDIA prices in other regions).
However, if you want the Prime OC model, the overclocked version of this baseline graphics card, ASUS has increased the sale price to $ 700.
You will need a fatter wallet to take advantage of ASUS TUF games of the RTX 5070, which inclines the balance to $ 740, which must point out that it only has only less than MSRP of $ 750 for the RTX 5070 TI, a much higher graphics card.
These are the prices you will find in the online store in line in the US. And in other retailers that must follow these MSRP. In addition, those are the only three models that are launched today, which as I will discuss below, is another sinister sign.
Analysis: Prime move, but prime oc – not so much
The fact that Asus only starts with three RTX 5070 models is a fairly strong indication that the stock will be very light, just as suggestions fall into another part of that Reddit publication. We are saying an Asus Rog Strix version of the RTX 5070, but it will not be on sale from the beginning.
Asus states that: “Unfortunately, the ROG Strix cards will not be available day 1. There are currently no ET for when these cards will be available.”
That sounds quite bleak, then, and Asus does not seem hopeful that the high -end model will soon leave. When this considers the cold light of all the rumors about the RTX 5070 that has poor supply levels, once again it seems that this could be a launch of Nvidia Blackwell of the type of thin paper. A field day for coatings and bots, if you wish (again).
The price of Asus also worries here, pushing what should be a medium-range GPU in the territory of medium-medium range of upper range. Well, then this is to be expected with some first -level customized graphics cards, but what about the difference between Asus Prime and Prime OC here, which is $ 700 compared to $ 550 for a bit of Overclock in the latter? An increase in the price of 27%, in other words.
According to us, we do not know how much overclock it is: Asus has not yet listed the impulse speeds for these cards, there are still ‘TB’ in the official specifications pages, but still, we can see the same variants of Prime and Prime OC oc variants of the RTX 5080 to have a good idea what to expect.
So what should you expect? In the case of RTX 5080, the dejected cousin overclocked in a total of 45MHz at the maximum speed of the clock (reaching 2685mhz versus 2640MHz). Well, then you will get a better construction quality with the board, without a doubt, and perhaps more on the margin of the head for enthusiasts, but an increase in prices of 27% with the Overclocked version of RTX 5070 of The Prime feels … opportunistic in the best case, cynical in the worst case.
Because Asus knows that these graphics cards are going to fly outside the shelves, so people will probably pay a considerable premium to ensure one (and avoid paying a climbing premium, potentially).
At least the prime of entry level is in its MSRP, but there are also some doubts about that, since Videocardz is skeptical about whether a price increase could be applied in a short time after today’s launch. Will this card be maintained at the MSRP level beyond this week? Well, perhaps, to be fair, since the main base model of RTX 5070 you still has at $ 750 (in the online and Newgg store, for example).
But that raises the question I already mentioned: why buy the EncarnaciĆ³n Asus TUF of the RTX 5070, which remembers that it is launched at $ 740, when I could obtain the Prime 5070 TI variant, for only ten dollars more? (If I was not exhausted, that’s).
The turn of you is much better, after all, and absolutely it would not make sense to obtain the TUF 5070. Unless, of course, it is the only really available model, and be desperate To obtain a portion of the Blackwell action of Nvidia. That said, the RTX 5070 stock is quite sure of being unstable at this time, given all the rumors, so this question will probably be completely theoretical later today, when RTX 5070 sales are live for a few milliseconds, and then the inventory dries.
We will see, but the way in which Asus has aligned the price for these RTX 5070 models does not make much sense (apart from the perspective of promoting profits).
