- Now you can start recording manually from Philips Oz security cameras
- It is also easier
- Bluetooth users can change the icon of each light for easier identification
The Philips Hue application has just received a significant update that makes it easier to manage its lights, and gives you more control over video recording if your home configuration includes any of the company’s security cameras. APP Version 5.37.1 is now available for iOS and Android devices.
The greatest change in the application is the ability to start recording video clips manually. It means (the company behind the Philips Hue brand) makes some of the best home security cameras when it comes to value and convenience, but so far its recording functionality has been quite limited.
Previously, you could configure your camera to send you a notification when you detect the movement and record a 60 -second clip video stored in the cloud to check it later. Once you have received the application update, you can also activate the recording manually while watching live images from a camera on your phone.
As the Hueblog.com fans site explains, you will notice a new Live View icon, which can play to start and stop recording. The recorded clips will be stored on your phone instead of the cloud.
Organize
The software update also facilitates the organization of its Philips Hue lights, whether you are controlling them using a Philips Hue or Bluetooth bridge on your phone.
Each Philips Hue bridge can control up to 50 lights, creating a mesh network that connects them to the Wi-Fi network of your home and with each other. That may be enough, but if you have a large house, you may need a second bridge to link them all.
With the version of application 5.37.1, you can now organize the Home By Bridge tab and show the names of your bridges as headings. This should make it easier to see and control the lights linked to each one. To test it, touch the ellipsis icon (…) to open the menu, then touch the start tab and select the bridge name icon.
Finally, if you control your tone lights using Bluetooth, you can now change the icon for each one to be easier to identify at a glance. To do so, select the light card, then touch the ellipsis icon and choose light configuration. It is a small change, but one that makes some of the best smart lights that can buy even better.
