- A new HBO original movie will arrive at Max “This spring”

Jesse Armstrong – The Creator of SuccessionOne of the best HBO Max shows: it seems to make a debut as a director at some point for the next three months with a new film that seems to be the highly anticipated follow -up that fans of the successful series have been waiting.
Although no title has not yet been revealed: HBO has even gone so far as to cover up the project name in an image that was launched together with the announcement (see above), we know that the film will star in Steve Carrell and Jason Schwartzman, and the brief synopsis sounds like it remembers Succession, with his focus on the rich and powerful.
It is said: “A group of billionaire friends meets in the context of a rolling international crisis.” What is the crisis and how these friends charged are connected, it is not yet clear, but considering that Armstrong is behind the project, many expect another successful drama of satirical comedy.
When commenting on the new Max movie, Armstrong said he was “intrigued to discover if he was close to so many brilliant actors and directors in Succession Somehow it has rubbed me. Hopefully yes. “I certainly hope yes too, and I feel sure to predict that he will bring his considerable creative talents to this next project.
In fact, with a high profile cast that includes the actor of the Calll comedy (The office; The big short), Wes Anderson Schwartzman’s student (Rushmore; Darjeeling Limited), Cory Michael Smith (May December; Carol), and Ramy Youssef (Poor things; Month), there is certainly enough to be stellar on board to guarantee high expectations.
What do we know so far from Jesse Armstrong’s new movie?
Not much. In addition to the plot, the cast and launch window, HBO maintains the details of the project largely in secret. But we should start listening sooner, considering that it will be debuted in the next three months.
It is surprising that HBO has said that the new film will be released “this spring”, because in the same breath also says that production just begins this month in Park City, Utah. Such a tight change sounds very ambitious, so we will have to see what updates we get in the coming months.
A report by The Hollywood Reporter in January said the production was being accelerated to start “at the end of this year”, but it seems that the calendar has accelerated even more for the last announcement, which makes me think that HBO is particularly interested in putting the film in front of the public.
I am not completely surprised by that. After all, Armstrong is behind some of my favorite television programs, with writing credits for comic classics such as Show and Fresh meat as well as satirical sensations as Four lions, Veep and Black mirror.
What is even more exciting is that the project will be the first time of Armstrong directing a feature film, and given his impressive history, I hope that many are excited to see what he has reserved for us.
