The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the country’s commitment to promote peace in Ukraine, underlining its strong and friendly relations with Russia and Ukraine.

During a media conference on Thursday, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, highlighted the negative impact on the conflict in developing countries, including Pakistan.

“Pakistan has also been negatively affected by this tragic conflict,” he said, emphasizing the importance of peace efforts to resolve the war. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for any initiative that promotes a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Regarding a recent security development, Khan addressed the arrest of Shareefullah, a higher operational commander of the province of Khorasan of the Islamic State (ISKP), and its subsequent delivery to the United States. He pointed out that intelligence cooperation between Pakistan and the United States has been long.

“The efforts of the Pakistani law agencies against terrorists, including Khorasan province of the Islamic State, have resulted in significant successes,” said Khan. He added that Pakistan collaborated with the United States to deliver Shareefullah in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

Khan stressed that these actions demonstrate the firm policy of zero tolerance of Pakistan against terrorism. “Intelligence cooperation has been in progress, and it is not only the first time that this type of activity happened,” he said.
