Apple could have presented only the 13 and 15 -inch MacBook Air with M4 yesterday, March 5, 2025, but I got an early preview, putting my eyes and hands in the last laptop of the technological giant based in Cupertino.
While the main feature is in the name, the M4 chipset, two other bubbling in my mind: the new Sky Blue Shade, which has a unique quality and that more affordable price.
I could not do a formal practice, per se, but here are my thoughts after watching the new 13 and 15 inches in the four colors, along with some photos and videos of them in action.
Sky Blue really looks impressive
I did not expect a completely new color for Macbook Air, but I am delighted to see Apple expand the alignment. Of course, I just want some more tones to be introduced, potentially some more vibrant colors such as the pink and orange of the IMAC. One can dream.
In person, the blue tone of the sky is really lovely and almost an optical illusion. Depending on how the light hits it, sometimes it can be silver. It is not a vibrant or darker blue like midnight, but stands out as a light and pastel turquoise tone.
In addition, as much as I would love a Ultramarine Macbook Air, such as the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus, that is not the case here.
While Apple starts sky blue to Macbook Air’s color options, it is replacing space gray. So, if you don’t want the new color, your options are Starlight, Silver or Midnight, you can see them in the gallery below.
Apple added its special anodization process to midnight with the M2 model to help reduce and eliminate fingerprints: the mileage sometimes varied here. That does not change with the M4, but there is no such finishing at the Sky Blue Macbook Air.

Even so, Sky Blue does a good job when hiding digital footprints and spots on the outer deck. It is a natural property of this tone and the materials here.
If I had to buy a MacBook Air at this time, I would choose Sky Blue for any size. It is a great tone, not too poppy or vibrant, the fair amount of color to add style. Please do not take a plastic box outside; However, the stickers are fine.
I hope that with what comes later, maybe M5 MacBook Air? – Apple launches some additional tones.
A return to the form for the price
In the United States, the 13 -inch Macbook Air starts at $ 999 for M4, 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. That same model is £ 999 in the United Kingdom or $ 1,699 in Australia, which is actually a price cut, and Apple is really stretching the value here. That is even better than when the Macbook Air M1 was implemented.
Although I did not spend much time playing with macOS in these MacBook Airs, I have zero doubts about the performance of the M4 chip. VI demonstrations of him playing a game and making a masking at Pixelmator Pro without omitting a rhythm or dropping frames.
When I checked the IMAC, as well as Matthew Hanson to PakGazette with Mac Mini and Lance Ulanooff with the 14 -inch Macbook Pro last October, all with variations of the M4: the speeds and the performance were fast.
I have the feeling that for the price, the Macbook Air will be the obvious option for most people, even for 15 inches, from $ 1,199 / £ 1.199 / AU $ 2,099, which also obtained a price cut.

Together with the new color and the M4 chip, Apple also made another change in Macbook Air: update the Facetime camera to a 12 megapixel lens with centerstage support.
I quickly tried this. While moving the MacBook air up or down, the camera frame moved quickly to keep me in the video (it does so through a harvest of a much broader 12MP video frame). It is good to have it, and considering the center of the stage also arrives at the MacBook Pro with the M4, it is a good way to cut it to the Macbook Air.
I would like Apple at least to have offered the Nano-Texture option here, since it works very well in the Macbook Pro. While I am in that, increasing the base storage to 512GB would also be good. As it is, I think this is one of the best air in Macbook, but from the price price to the M4 chip to the bright blue tone.
