Punjab emission list of prohibited organizations, warns citizens not

The Department of Interior of Punjab has issued a list of prohibited organizations, urging citizens not to donate these unregistered and prohibited charity groups.

The measure occurs as part of the continuous efforts of the government to curb terrorism financing and ensure that beneficial donations do not support illegal activities.

The list of prohibited organizations began with the actions taken on August 14, 2001, when the State imposed a prohibition of Lashkar-E-Jhangvi and SIPAH-E-Muhammad Pakistan. Subsequently, on January 14, 2002, other groups such as Jaish-E-Mohammad, Lashkar-E-Taiba, SIPAH-E-SAHABA Pakistan, Tehreek-E-Islami and Tehreek-E-Nifaz-E-Shariat-E-Muhammadi were also expelled.

According to a statement issued by the Punjab government, to provide any form of support to these proscribed organizations is a violation of the 1997 anti -terrorism law and punished according to the law.

The statement also stressed that individuals found to help prohibited groups involved in terrorism and antistatal activities will face legal consequences. In addition, he clarified that, according to Punjab regulations, beneficial organizations in the province must be registered in the Punjab Charity Commission.

Citizens have been advised to donate their zakat, charity and other contributions only to organizations registered in the Punjab Charity Commission. The authenticity of these registered organizations can be verified through a QR code in its certificates.

The statement also emphasized the importance of ensuring that donations reach legitimate beneficiaries and do not end up supporting terrorism or criminal activities. The details of the registered organizations can be found on the website of the Charity Commission.

The statement also encouraged citizens to inform fraudulent or suspicious activities, including those involving organizations that can finance terrorism, state anti-activities or personal gains.
