AMD could be launching a faster version of its RX 9070 GPU as soon as the second quarter of 2025, according to a new rumor.
Moore Is Dead’s Law (MLID) has a new video on YouTube that analyzes a variety of themes in the new RDNA 4 GPUs of AMD, with the excellent RX 9070 XT and Vanilla 9070 that went on sale yesterday, and part of the talk here is more reinforced than we have already heard about the MSRP of these tasks.
However, before entering that, the most interesting revelation here (in my book) is that the AMD is established to produce a new RDNA 4 graphics card using the Navi 48 chip, the RX 9070 models are based on the GPU, with the GPU pushed to the maximum absolute.
According to one of Mlid’s sources in a great American retailer, AMD graphics card partners have been informed about a 48 ‘Ultimate GPUpera that could be launched in the first quarter, although I suppose this would be more for June than April (since this is the first whisper of such a joint).
The network team is apparently shooting for a level of performance between RTX 5070 TI and RTX 5080. In terms of names, this GPU presumably would be an RX 9070 XTX (or 9070 XT Extreme Edition as MLID suggests).
Mlid has nothing more to share about this theoretical graphics card in terms of how the specification could work, so this is an early, safe stage rumor.
As mentioned, the youtuber also talks about the RX 9070 launch supply, which apparently was triple the volume of the entire Blackwell GPU amount (all RTX 5000 models) that have arrived until now since the end of January.
MLID states that the supply of RX 9070 boards will be more robust than the NVIDIA RTX 5000 models in the future, not only in the launch, with an obvious warning.
That capture is that only a percentage of the RDNA 4 graphics cards of entry level in MSRP was sold, and as we saw yesterday, once that initial lot disappeared, those reference boards became quite expensive.

Presumably with the supposed RX 9070 XTX, or Extreme Edition, we would be looking for reinforced clock speeds, and possibly more vram (perhaps with memory with spots on the front of the speed, also speculates MLID). Whatever the case, however, AMD could go with the specification, the intention is clear enough: to produce a GPU that would be approximately equivalent to a (theoretical) RTX 5070 ti super, or by others.
What is also planned for the second trimester officially, as announced by AMD in the Revelation of RX 9070 at the end of February, is the debut of the RX 9060 models, which brings more friendly fodder for the wallet to the world of GPU. So, in theory, there is much to wait while we headed to Q2, which begins in just a few weeks.
As for the launch of RX 9070, from what I saw, the stock seemed to be present in reasonable quantities, even if the MSRP level graphics cards were exhausted quite quickly (but not in the open and closing an eye).
Is it fair that there are no MSRP board now, because AMD is only willing to subsidize a limited number of RX 9070 graphics cards to take them to that price level for the day for sale, so the recommended launch price is technically correct?
Well, it is not an ideal situation, of course. Mlid tell us that the entrance level price for RX 9070 XT is likely to be around $ 670 in the future in the US, and looking at the prices of the United Kingdom now, the input level boards 9070 XT are really in stock, but now they are 10% on the MSRP (approximately the same expected).
However, as Mlid points out, at least one 10% walk is not terrible, when 9070 XT looks good in the first place, and at least there are still available actions in the United Kingdom (not in the United States, the mind, which I can see at the time of writing).
Since the replacement is expected to be more robust, with the RDNA 4 graphics cards of AMD, this is at least much better than the situation with the NVIDIA RTX 5000 GPUs. That said, it would be difficult to imagine a much worse launch scenario than Blackwell, unfortunately.
The Red team has done well here, then, in general, but it continues to disappoint that the MSRP of the RX 9070 models has proven to be an illusion spell released by AMD. Even so, with some magic of Black Friday or Prime Day, those sales prices can return later this year …
