Thorough storms, rain and snow are expected in Pakistan next week: PMD Warning problems

The Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) has predicted thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds in various parts of the country next week, from March 9 to 16.

According to a press release issued by the department on Saturday, a Western wind system is expected to enter the northern areas of the country from the night of March 9. The intensity of this weather system will increase from March 12 and could persist until March 16.

From March 9 to 16, rains and snowfall are expected in the northern regions, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Murree, Garyat, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

On March 10, moderate to strong rain is forecast, accompanied by thunderstorms, is forecast for Islamabad, Rawalpindi Division, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sialkot and Faisalabad. The rain is also expected to continue in these cities from March 12 to 16.

On March 14 and 15, rain is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Okara, Bhakkar and fine.

The Department of Meteorology also warned that rain and snowfall in the areas of the north, including Murree and Garyat, could interrupt the flow of traffic. In addition, there is the risk of landslides and avalanches in areas such as Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Travelers have been advised to these regions that take the necessary precautions.

Hail storms are also expected at the top of Punjab, the upper part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.
