The open receiver of Kansas City Chiefs Xavier Worthy was arrested in Texas on Friday by an alleged assault, according to online jail records.
Worthy, a first round selection in the NFL draft last year, was reserved by the Sheriff’s office of Williamson County by an assault position. Williamson County includes parts of Austin, where Worthy went up to stardom during her time with Texas’s Longhorns.
The charges claim that worthy assaulted a family or member of the home, restricting the breathing of the alleged victim. According to Texas’s law, restricting someone’s breathing means “intentionally, knowingly or recklessly the normal breathing or circulation of the person’s blood by applying pressure to the throat or the person’s neck or blocking the nose or mouth of the person.”

The position is a severe third grade crime with up to 10 years in prison. The prison records showed that Worthy had not published bail for Saturday morning. The records had no detail of the arrest.
Shortly after news of the arrest, lawyers Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett issued a statement in the name of Worthy.

“We are aware of the accusation that led to the arrest of Mr. Worthy,” said the statement, obtained by Associated Press. “We are working with the police in Williamson County to ensure that they have the benefit of all the circumstances that led to this accusation.”
The lawyers argued that the “plaintiff” refused to leave Worthy’s house despite the numerous applications. Worthy’s representatives also said that the alleged victim tried to extort the NFL star and described the accusation made against her client as “without foundation.”

“The plaintiff was asked several times in the last two weeks to annul Mr. Worthy’s residence when discovering his infidelity, of which a private researcher has evidence in video. He has refused to defounder the residence and made a series of exoritious efforts before resorting to this accusation unfounded against Mr. Worthy.”
According to the statement, Worthy’s property was damaged and suffered bodily damage. The Chiefs receiver also informed the authorities that it was not in favor of pressing charges, according to the statement.

“The plaintiff further destroyed a room in the residence, he scratched Mr. Worthy’s face and started parts of his hair, of what there is photographic evidence of. Mr. Worthy told the police at the time of the incident that he did not want to present charges against the plaintiff.
“We will continue to cooperate with Williamson County authorities, since we have full faith, his exhaustive investigation will support the innocence of Mr. Worthy.”
The Chiefs also sent a statement to Fox New Digital, saying: “We are aware and collecting information.”
Worthy finished her rookie season at the NFL with 638 reception yards and six touchdowns. He also scored three touchdowns by land. The 21-year-old scored two TouchDowns during the 40-22 defeat of the Chiefs against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl last month.
