- The Mac silence button now coincides with the screen graphics
- The keyboards for macbooks and iPads have been updated
- It is the first adjustment to the design of the button since 1999
Apple released some new and bright air from Macbook by 2025 earlier this week, and in addition to presenting the latest M4 chips inside, they also correct a keyboard supervision that has existed since the last century.
As seen by Iculture (through Macrumors), the silence button on the keyboard now shows a small speaker with a line of strikeouts through it. Previously, the icon was just a speaker, without any of the sound waves next to the other volume buttons.
Why does this matter? Well, as you will notice if you are reading this in a Mac, if you play the silence button on an Apple keyboard, get a speaker icon with a stubborn line through it on the screen. The keyboard graphics now coincide with the images of macOS.
It is not a great change in the great scheme of computer updates, but now it is good to have some consistency. The old silence button icon has existed since the launch of the Powerbook G3 until 1999.
You can see it well
Apple has not said anything officially about updated iconography, but the change has also been made in the new magic keyboard that comes with the seventh -generation Air Ipad update, driven by the M3 chipset.
That would indicate that the new aspect is here to stay, and will continue to appear on Mac keyboards in the future. The next computers we expect from Apple are the M5 MacBook Pros, which is due to the end of the year.
Judging by comments on the Macrumors article previously linked, this is not something particularly confusing or frustrating for users, but given the usual attention of Apple in detail, it is strange that the inconsistency has persisted.
Our complete review of the M4 MacBook Air is still in process, but we have managed to have some practical time with the updated laptops already, and the blue color of the fresh sky is definitely one that attracts attention.
