Strong slogans, protests eclipsan the speech of President Zardari in the joint session

President Asif Ali Zardari addresses the joint session of Parliament on Monday, marking the beginning of the second parliamentary year of the current National Assembly.

As soon as the president has begun his speech, opposition legislators, particularly PTI, have exploded in slogans and have taken posters, turning the session into a chaotic show.

The president has resorted to the use of headphones to continue his speech amid the interruptions.

Senior government officials, including ministers and legislators of several parties, have attended the session, while foreign diplomats have observed since the guest gallery.

The only agenda of the session has been the president’s speech, without any other scheduled procedure.

Before the session, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has held a meeting with President Zardari, together with the president of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and the Vice Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

At a light moment, the leader of PTI Pervez Khattak has error towards opposition banks before realizing his mistake and shaking the hand of the Prime Minister and the Vice Prime Minister.

Despite the protests, President Zardari has smiled at the members of the opposition while his speech continues, not showing signs of being deterred by the uproar.
