The armed thieves looted more than RS1.15 million of the People’s Bus Service personnel in the Karachi Gulan-E-Hadeed, holding them at the tip of the gun at the end of the night.
According to driver Sher Jan, the theft took place at the last stop of the bus service, where he and other employees were resting. Six assailants reached a vehicle, and two stayed inside while four entered the facilities. One of them wore a mask.
Armed men forced the crew inside a bus, where the cashier and a transport officer were sitting. “They kept us at the tip of the gun and demanded cash,” Sher Jan told the police, adding that the thieves also took the weapon and mobile phone from a security guard before fleeing.
The suspects escaped with RS11.5 million in cash, raising serious concerns about security in public transport centers.
The Senior Police Superintendent (SSP) Malir confirmed that an investigation is underway. “We have gathered evidence of the scene, and a case has been recorded. The suspects will be tracked soon, ”he said.
The incident has caused an alarm among transport workers, who are now asking for more strict security measures in bus terminals, particularly during the hours.
