Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan cannot achieve progress unless terrorism is eradicated by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Baluchistan. By chairing a meeting on the security situation in Baluchistan on Thursday, the prime minister was informed by Prime Minister Sarfraz Bugti.
Referring to the recent attack against a passenger train, Prime Minister Shehbaz condemned the assailants for ignoring the holiness of Ramadan. “The helpless passengers were taken as hostages in the desert. Under the leadership of the Army Chief, the security forces successfully rescued 339 passengers,” he said.
Gratitude expressed in the name of the public and the government to the Zapar company of the Special Services Group (SSG), saying that it was created specifically to counteract such terrorist threats.
Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized that the entire nation was afflicting the attack on the express jaffer. “Pakistan cannot afford another tragedy. Everyone must play their role to guarantee security. Baluchistan’s progress is essential for the general development of Pakistan,” he added.
Questioning the resurgence of terrorism, said the prime minister, “terrorism had been crushed before, so why has it resurfaced? Unfortunately, some people’s comments about this incident were so inappropriate that they cannot even be repeated.”
He criticized what he called the “propaganda of the enemy”, affirming, “it is disappointing how our eastern neighbor promoted the narration of Pakistan adversaries.”
The prime minister also condemned the release of certain militants in the past. “Some Taliban members were released with dark background. Poison is being thrown against the State and the Army. There is no greater act of hostility that defame our military,” he said.
He praised the armed forces for their sacrifices, particularly in Baluchistan and KP, and added that their efforts had prevented thousands of children from being orphaned.
Prime Minister Shehbaz warned against the actions of “infiltrated and enemies disguised as friends,” he said, they were damaging Pakistan. “If we do not eliminate terrorism, our trip to development will derail,” he said.
The prime minister also announced plans for a conference from all parties (APC) to discuss Baluchistan’s challenges. “Terrorists will use all tactics to create division among people. At this time, national unity is the need for the hour,” he emphasized.
“I have not come to Baluchistan for political score,” he said. “Even now, we must learn from the past and move forward. The political leadership of the whole country should join to discuss the challenges that Pakistan faces,” he added.
