- The iPhone 16 Pro Max could be followed by the iPhone 17 Ultra
- We have also heard the ‘ultra’ rumor in previous years
- The Ultra iPhone can count on a larger battery and more cooling
We hope that Apple present the iPhone 17 range in September, and a new rumor points to a name change for the most expensive model in alignment, a rumor that has actually been turning for a couple of years.
According to the well -known Tipster Yeux1122 (through Macrumors), the iPhone 17 Pro Max, in fact, will be called iPhone 17 Ultra. Apparently, that is based on investor and sources information within the supply chain.
If the phone previously known as the iPhone 17 Pro Max really obtains a name change, it would be the first ultra phone released by Apple, although it has already used the Ultra label for some of its Apple silicon chips and, of course, the Apple Watch Ultra series.
However, we have heard this rumor before, both for the iPhone 15 and for the iPhone 16, and in those cases, the names did not change. Maybe this is the year Apple finally decides to shake your approach for the name of the iPhone.
Hardware and software
In theory, then, we could be looking at an alignment presented by the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Ultra. There is a certain ordination to have a single additional word after each of the three additional variants.
That said, the same Tipster also suggests that the air name of the iPhone 17 is not yet fixed. This super thin model, replacing the iPhone 16 Plus, has appeared in many leaks, but it seems that Apple has not yet decided how to call it.
The ultra iPhone 17 (if in fact it is its name) also leans to come with a smaller dynamic island, a steam chamber for additional cooling (and improved performance) and greater battery capacity, which will be added to its thickness.
We have already heard that iOS 19 is also ready for an important renewal, so it seems that it will be quite a year for Apple in terms of hardware and software. We should obtain our first look at iOS 19 at some point in June at Apple WWDC 2025.
